In order to stop the very high death toll from Asbestos related illnesses the UK Government introduced new regulations to control any work with asbestos materials. 'The Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006' came into effect on 13th November 2006..

Regulation 10 – Information, Instruction and Training clarifies the requirement that any personnel involved in the construction and allied trades must receive minimum half day training in Asbestos Awareness.

Regulation 4 - Duty to Manage Asbestos in Non-Domestic Premises states that an asbestos register should be produced which should detail the extent and condition of any asbestos material found, and any remedial action necessary to manage the asbestos material safely.
